About This Spot

Walking into Big Poke, nestled on Merrimack Street in Lowell, you’re met with a quietly vibrant energy that feels both inviting and unpretentious. It’s the kind of place where the hum of friendly chatter mingles with the clean, bright simplicity of a local spot that knows its flavors well. The pace is relaxed but purposeful—people come here to savor fresh, thoughtfully prepared Hawaiian bowls without fuss or pretense.

The atmosphere is grounded in genuine care, reflected in the warm greetings from the team who help guide each guest through the colors and textures of their meal. There’s a welcoming rhythm to how patrons build their bowls, layering fresh fish, crisp veggies, and distinctive toppings that speak to the spirit of the islands without ever feeling contrived.

More than just a poke bar, Big Poke feels like a neighborhood discovery—a place where the quality of ingredients shines through and where a casual meal invites moments of connection, whether it’s sharing a vibrant bowl with friends or enjoying a quiet lunch during the day. The menu’s creative combinations and house specials offer surprises, like a sushi-inspired wrap with an unexpected kick or a vibrant veggie bowl drenched in sesame ginger dressing, each dish unfolding layers of flavor that feel both familiar and new.

It’s clear that freshness matters here, not only in the fish but in the small thoughtful details—the crisp homemade toppings, the lightly sweetened island-style drinks, even the shaved ice that offers a playful finish to your meal. The space invites both locals and visitors to slow down, savor something wholesome, and feel a little taste of Hawaii’s warmth far from the Pacific coast.

The izzyrito looked like the standout order here. You can add flaming hot Cheetos to the wrap and I recommend you do! You get a lot of good quality fish and a great variety of veggies and toppings to boot. The truffle aioli was sweet and very truffle-y. It's a bit pricey but I think for the quality of ingredients and the amount of food you're getting, it's worth it. Great option to have in the downtown area

Food was so fresh and amazing!!! The two ladies managing the restaurant are so sweet! WiFi is really good and their Hawaiian shaved ice is too tear! They have fresh Poké meat and I loved it!!! Great vibe all around!

Fresh fresh fish!! Salmon and tuna and also have the spicy option. There are many options you can add to your bowl. Much more than other poke places and the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly! Hey are willing to help in making a bowl for you that you will love! They have a rewards program that offers free food items and a free bowl after the 10th purchase! Something to look forward to eventually! Definitely coming here a lot!

This place has a particularly nice selection of toppings and sides, and the fish tastes pretty fresh. If you're not hungry, don't get a large, because I made the mistake of underestimating how much food they give you and could barely walk after. If you don't like the end result flavor wise, I kind of think that's your fault for picking a bad combo of things. (This is the third review in a row where I've been insulting people's ordering habits. #NoFoodWaste) I'm not wild about the price level, but the value is still good regardless.

This is a small place, which appears locally owned. The service was very good . The food looked very fresh in the trays. The price was reasonable. The poke bowl tasted very good, one of the best poke bowls I have had. Great flavors and options to choose from for the proteins. I would highly recommend this place.
